Jose Mourinho is still one of the best managers in the world according to Nemanja Matic, who thinks that his constant need to be the best and manage the best players will drive him and Manchester United forward.
Matic followed Mourinho from Chelsea and has spoken about how much he respects and enjoys working with the manager, who he thinks can get United back to the very top, and cited all the trophies he’s won throughout his career.
He spoke with Sky Sports and said: “He always wants the best. He always wants to win.
“Of course, him as a coach, if you play good he always thinks that you can play better. This is good. He always asks you to do more.
“I am happy that we work with him and he’s a coach who won many, many trophies in his career and for sure we can learn a lot of things from him.
“He won many things. The coach is good if he won the trophies. He won in every country he has been, he has won a lot and that’s why they call him special.
“I am always positive.
“Obviously the gap between us and City is big, but we will fight until the end.”
Of course, despite Matic being positive, one of the best things United can hope for this season is second place in the Premier League, and can get back there by beating Crystal Palace on Monday night.
They are also one of the favourites for the FA Cup, especially considering Manchester City are out of the competition – but the Champions League may be a step too far for Mourinho’s men, who many people think will struggle against the top sides in the competition – and the arrival of Alexis Sanchez has not helped as much as they would have liked in terms of their forward play and attacking prowess, instead affecting Paul Pogba adversely.
