Man United ready to pay Mario Mandzukic €6m a year in wages – Gazzetta

Man United offer to sign Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic

Italian reporter Nicolò Schira, who contributes to Gazzetta dello Sport, has thrown a new curveball into the whole transfer saga between Man United and Juventus.

In the latest twist, Man United appear to be close to signing Croatian forward Mario Mandzukic.

According to Nicolò Schira, Man United and Juve are in “advanced talks”.

Moreover, Man United are willing to offer the 33-year-old a contract until 2021, plus an option to extend until 2022.

Finally, the Red Devils are proposing a salary of six million euros a season for Mandzukic.

There was no mention of the value of any transfer fee.

What about Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala?

Mandzukic has been linked with Man United already this summer.

However, whenever that rumour has popped up, it’s been in the context of a wider possible swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala.

Nicolò Schira made no mention of the Belgian or Argentine.

That would suggest that Man United’s interest in Mandzukic is now its own independent operation.

Harry Maguire in Manchester

Manchester United and Leicester City fans are waiting for the news to be confirmed.

Harry Maguire is set to become the world’s most expensive defender when he completes his move to Old Trafford.

On Sunday, Maguire turned up at Man United for his medical.
