His time at Man United didn’t go well.

In January 2017, Memphis Depay completed his move from Man United to Lyon.

The Dutchman had endured a tough first half to the season at Old Trafford, where it had become clear he wasn’t part of Jose Mourinho’s plans.

He made just a handful of appearances for the Portuguese manager, and was left out of the festive football altogether so that he could focus on finding a new club.

Lyon paid around £16 million for Depay, which could rise to £21.7 million with add-ons.

Lyon fans throw back his shirt

A short story is doing the rounds of what happened at the end of last weekend’s Ligue 1 match between Angers and Lyon.

The game was a six goal thriller, as the hosts rallied from 2-goals down to draw 3-3.

Lyon took a 3-1 lead into the break.

Mariano Diaz scored his sixth league goal of the season in the fifth minute to open.

Rafael put through his own net to draw Angers level on the half hour mark, but goals from Mouctar Diakhaby and former Man United winger Memphis Depay put the away side in control at the break.

The match changed in the 50th minute when Marcelo was bizarrely sent off.

Playing against 10-men, Angers roared back with goals from Karl Toko Ekambi and Ismael Traore to earn a share of the spoils.

On Tuesday, L’Equipe have reported Memphis Depay threw his shirt to Lyon’s fans after 3-3 draw at Angers.

And what did the fans do? They threw it right back.

WWE fans will have seen that happen before.
