Man United negotiations for Jadon Sancho ‘at an advanced stage’

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano this afternoon provided an update on Manchester United’s ongoing pursuit of Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

Sancho’s exit links

Despite the financial restrictions set to be brought about by the COVID-19 crisis, speculation surrounding the futures of some of European football’s biggest stars has continued to swirl this summer.

The likes of Paul Pogba, Philippe Coutinho and Neymar have been hotly-tipped to be on the move over the coming months, with Manchester United and Chelsea just two of the sides hopeful of securing major reinforcements ahead of next season.

Few, if any, though, have been more persistently linked with an imminent exit from their current club than Jadon Sancho.

Following another scintillating campaign with Borussia Dortmund, during which the young Englishman racked up a hefty 20 goals and 20 assists, speculation has been rife that Sancho could be set for a Premier League return.

To this point, the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and even former club Manchester City have been tipped as potential landing spots for the explosive 20-year-old.

United making progress

No club, though, have been more persistently linked with Sancho than Manchester United.

The Red Devils have long been reported to have established themselves as frontrunners in the race for the Dortmund star’s signature, amid claims that Sancho is ‘very open’ to the prospect of a move to Old Trafford.

Recent speculation has even gone as far as to suggest that the personal terms of a contract have already been agreed between the parties.

And, as outlined above, an update on United’s Sancho pursuit has today been forthcoming.

The news comes courtesy of Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano, regarded as highly reliable when it comes to all things transfer-related.

Romano opens with a line that is no doubt set to come as music to the ears of the Old Trafford faithful, by confirming that negotiations between United and Dortmund have reached an ‘advanced stage’.

It is added that the Premier League giants are hopeful of clinching a deal based around a series of add-ons and installments, but that no agreement has yet been forthcoming.

Finally, it is suggested that Sancho would pen a 5-year-deal if he eventually makes the move to Manchester:

In a follow-up Tweet, Romano adds that Sancho himself would ‘like to join Man United’:
