Man United legend David Beckham posts awesome tribute to White Hart Lane

White Hart Lane to be demolished today!

On Sunday, the final match ever was played at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham beat Manchester United 2-1 thanks to goals from Victor Wanyama and Harry Kane.

Wayne Rooney pulled one back for Manchester United and Marcus Rashford spurned a fine late chance to secure a draw and dampen some Spurs spirits.

But, Tottenham were not to be denied and they won out to complete a remarkable home season in 2016/2017, where they went unbeaten at White Hart Lane.

Following an emotional post match ceremony, White Hart Lane will be demolished today as the new stadium takes another step to completion in time for the 2018/2019 season.

David Beckham’s awesome tribute to White Hart Lane

There were many many great tributes paid to White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Plenty of ex players showed their gratification to the fans whilst the Tottenham supporters did themselves proud at White Hart Lane.

Arguably, the finest of all was paid by a true modern legend of the Premier League: David Beckham.

Beckham references his “slight guilt” after scoring against Spurs – and Goldenballs had a great record against the side from north London.

David Beckham’s full statement on White Hart Lane

Being a East End boy and Manchester United fan I always loved scoring against the London clubs, but there was always a slight guilt every time I scored against Spurs at white hart lane for one reason only my grandad was always watching and he had been a season ticket holder for 40 years but he loved every moment …

I have so many great memories from white hart lane from the age of 11 training there and then being sat in Terry Venables office being offered a contract ( obviously turning it down ) to captaining United in that famous comeback but the most memorable has to be the day of my grandads funeral when we celebrated his life in the stadium with family and friends…

White hart lane will always be a big part of our family ..

Thank you for the memories @spursofficial
