Man United handed double fitness boost ahead of Fulham clash

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed the return of a pair of players to fitness, ahead of the club’s run-in.

Villarreal clash looms large

As the campaign inches towards its conclusion, Man United are of course one of several English clubs with major season goals still in their sights.

The Red Devils will first see out the remainder of their domestic obligations over the course of the coming week.

A showdown with Championship bound Fulham lies in wait at Old Trafford tomorrow evening, before Solskjaer and co. finish out their Premier League endeavours with a trip to Molineux on Sunday.

Only after this, though, will attentions turn to the Reds’ most important outing for some time.

United are of course set to face off with Villarreal in the finale of the Europa League next Wednesday night, aiming to secure their first piece of silverware under the watch of Solskjaer.

‘A very good boost’

In turn, with the stakes in Gdansk so high for the Norwegian, Solskjaer will no doubt be keen to have as many of his key performers as possible fit and available for selection.

Captain Harry Maguire remains a doubt, though an encouraging update on the English international’s wellbeing was forthcoming on Sunday.

And, on Monday, the positive personnel news has continued to flow for the Manchester giants.

Speaking during his pre-Fulham press conference, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked for an update on his squad, and selection plans for the coming 10 days.

And, as well as confirming that he is yet to decide on who exactly will be handed a starting berth versus Villarreal, the United boss revealed that both Anthony Martial and Dan James are back in contention to feature on Tuesday night:

‘These last two games are a chance for everyone if there’s any doubt in my head. I think everyone knows I feel I’ve got quite good competition in most area so I don’t think going into these last two games saving your energy for the final, no.’

‘You need to show against Fulham that I’m ready to do my bit for the team. Maybe the Fulham team will be the final team, maybe not. I’m hoping to get Anthony and Dan back involved in this game which is a very good boost for us, and maybe they can even start against Wolves and then maybe they’re sensational?’

‘It’s hard to leave players out if they really perform at their highest level.’
