Man United ‘finally ready’ to pay Leicester’s Harry Maguire asking price

Romelu Lukaku’s cryptic selfie

On Saturday, Romelu Lukaku hinted that his Man United career may soon be over.

The Belgian posted a cryptic selfie on social media.

Pictured alongside his agent Federico Pastorello, Lukaku posted the caption: Soon to be continued.

Of course, Lukaku has been linked with an Old Trafford exit this summer.

Inter Milan and Juventus have both been linked with Lukaku.

Man United & Leicester’s Harry Maguire

If Lukaku does leave Man United, it’s unlikely that the Red Devils will pocket that transfer fee.

Instead, as reported in the Irish Independent on Sunday, Man United are poised to use funds from selling Lukaku to pay for Leicester’s Harry Maguire:

Manchester United are finally ready to meet Leicester’s £80m asking price for Harry Maguire, once they finalise the sale of striker Romelu Lukaku.

Maguire started for Leicester in their pre-season game at Stoke on Saturday, but it may have been his final appearance for the club as United are ready to make a final offer that they believe will end the stand-off over the England centre-back.

Maguire seems set to becomes the world’s most expensive defender.

Maguire’s last game for Leicester?

On Saturday, Maguire was in action for Leicester in pre-season.

The Foxes picked up a 2-1 away win at Stoke City.

Marc Albrighton and Youri Tielemans found the target for Leicester against the Potters.

After the match, manager Brendan Rodgers was again asked about Maguire’s possible move to Man United. He said:

There’s no discussion. I know you guys are looking for updates but there’s no change from the other night.

There’s a lot of speculation around Harry but he’s just got on with it. Like I’ve always said, we’re all pretty relaxed with it.

We’re looking to prepare the whole team and squad and Harry’s a part of that. He was excellent today, he’s working very hard.

We have two weeks left to go in the window for all of the players. I think it’s just a case of everyone staying focused.

Harry has been brilliant since the first day of pre-season and we have no need to sell him. Until something changes, there is nothing more to say.
