Man United need a centre-back
Manchester United spent much of the 2018 summer transfer window trying to sign a centre-back.
However, Jose Mourinho’s side failed to do so and after 14 games of the 2018/19 Premier League season, it is clear that was a mistake.
Man United currently sit 7th in the Premier League and after 14 games they have let in a staggering 23 goals.
This is the worst defensive record in the top 15 sides.
United’s Victor Lindelof was showing signs of improvement at the back in recent games.
However, during a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace, Lindelof would suffer an injury meaning United are currently without their only decently performing central defender.
Alderweireld to join United
With the January window approaching it is no surprise United are being linked with another central defender.
Now, according to Ladbrokes, Man United are now favourites to land Tottenham and Belgium defender, Toby Alderweireld.
United were linked with the Belgian over the summer and after their defensive troubles this season, it seems they are once again trying to sign the defender.
Alderweireld has been a key member of Spurs squad this season playing 12 league games so far.

However, the 29-year-old was left on the bench as Arsenal beat his side 4-2 on Sunday.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said:
“United are crying out for a world class centre-half – and with it now looking increasingly likely that this will be Alderweireld’s last season with Spurs, we reckon a mega money move to Manchester could be on the cards.”
