Alexis Sanchez

Man United fans will love Alexis Sanchez’s first interview following ‘dream’ move from Arsenal

New Manchester United signing Alexis Sanchez has this evening held his first interview as a Red Devils’ player, revealing that it ‘always his dream’ to line out for the club.

Saga

The story surrounding the future of Chilean international Sanchez was one of the talking points of the summer transfer window, with all of Bayern Munich, PSG, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City having expressed an interest in the 29-year-old.

A deadline day move to the Etihad to join up with former boss Pep Guardiola was labelled as ‘imminent’ by a number of outlets at the end of August, but, in the end, a move failed to materialise, mainly due to Arsenal’s inability to secure a deal for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

Suitors

As a result, Sanchez was left with no choice but to stay put in North London, though it had still long been widely predicted that the South American would depart the Emirates, either this month for a nominal fee or for free in the summer upon the expiration of his contract.

Manchester City maintained their status as the leading contenders for his signature up until last weekend, when Manchester United were also confirmed to have tabled an offer for Arsenal’s star man.

And, as per a number of updates in the week since, City surprisingly abandoned their pursuit altogether, with United having reached an agreement with Arsenal to send out of favour midfielder Henrikh Mlhitaryan to the Emirates as part of a swap deal for Sanchez.

Inching closer

Both players were pictured in Liverpool earlier today as Arsenal and United sought to secure renewed work permits for the pair ahead of the swap deal’s official confirmation, while Sanchez was also pictured in a Red Devils’ kit last night:

And, in news that no doubt came as a huge relief to growingly-anxious Manchester United supporters the world over, the club tonight confirmed that Alexis Sanchez is now officially a Red Devils player:

Waxing lyrical

Speaking in his first interview since being unveiled as a Manchester United player, Sanchez revealed that it has always been his dream to make the move to Old Trafford, labelling the club ‘the biggest in England’ and opening up on a previous conversation with Red Devils’ legend Sir Alex Ferguson:
