Manchester United’s supporters have this afternoon taken aim at referee Mike Dean, after an incident during the Red Devils’ clash with Leicester City saw Nampalys Mendy escape a second yellow card.
Leicester vs Man United
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men travelled to the King Power Stadium for today’s lunchtime kick-off in the Premier League.
Hosts Leicester headed into proceedings on the back of a morale-boosting point last time out, versus table-toppers Liverpool at Anfield.
United, meanwhile, saw their 8-game win-streak under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer snapped in disappointing fashion during the week, when the Red Devils were forced to come from 2 goals down to snatch a point at home to Burnley.
However, it didn’t take long for the Manchester giants to get back on track this afternoon, with United having taken the lead at the King Power inside the opening 10 minutes.
A poorly-placed pass out of the Leicester defence on the part of Ricardo Pereira saw Paul Pogba pounce, with the Frenchman’s inch-perfect dinked ball over the top having been taken down and confidently dispatched by Marcus Rashford.

Mendy escapes punishment
United have since entered the game’s closing stages with their 1-goal lead still intact, though fans of the Red Devils have nevertheless been left reeling with referee Mike Dean.
The frustration of the Red Devils’ faithful comes after an incident involving Paul Pogba and Nampalys Mendy, which saw the latter haul Pogba to ground as he attempted to play a one-two with Alexis Sanchez on the edge of the Leicester box.
It was a clear foul, and, with Mendy having already been booked, the Foxes’ midfielder should, in all honesty, have been handed his second yellow and subsequent marching orders.
‘Not sure what Mike Dean is looking at’
However, the incident was completely missed by Mike Dean, with United having not even been awarded a free-kick.
As such, the online backlash has since been typically ruthless, with some of the highlights showcased below:
Vardy for diving and Mendy for pulling Pogba should both be off now for 2nd yellows. Mike Dean is fucking clueless…

Mike Dean missing the blatant pull back by Mendy, who’s on a yellow; but totally buys the dive by Steptoe. Standard. #LEIMUN

Mike Dean is a joke! Mendy pulls Pogba down off the ball. Definite foul, definite yellow, and he would have been off. Useless
