Man United fans evacuated at OT in “code red”; Match abandoned due to suspect package[Tweets]

Manchester United fans at the final game of the season against Bournemouth were evacuated at Old Trafford with the tannoy announcing an “operation code red”.

The match was initially delayed by 45 minutes before the match was later abandoned just after 3pm in extraordinary circumstances.

Manchester United fans and stewards were rather bemused by the evacuation, with some fans live tweeting the scenes from inside and outside Old Trafford.

It was then confirmed a suspicious package was to be dealt with by police in the North West corner at Old Trafford.

Two stands were evacuated whilst fans in the South and East stands were urged to remain in their seats, before they were all eventually told to go home.

The race for 4th

Manchester United still have hopes of securing Champions League football for next season, albeit needing a Manchester City defeat at Swansea to stand any chance.

Whilst Manchester United fans left the stadium, news began filtering of an early Manchester City goal away at Swansea.

The date of the re-scheduled match between Manchester United and Bournemouth will no doubt be announced soon.
