Man United: Early team news vs Chelsea regarding Harry Maguire & Paul Pogba

Manchester United vs Chelsea

In a week’s time, Man United will start their new Premier League campaign at home against Chelsea.

Will Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side get off to a winning start?

Or will Chelsea’s Frank Lampard manage to spring a surprise at Old Trafford?

Harry Maguire is joining from Leicester City

It’s not yet been confirmed by either Man United or Leicester City.

However, it’s become common knowledge this weekend that Harry Maguire is leaving the King Power Stadium to join the Red Devils.

On Saturday, United boss Solskjaer essentially confirmed that Maguire is signing on. He said:

Let’s get the last details over the line but yeah, he’s played a few games over the summer so we’ll have to assess him if and when.

Hopefully the last little details will be in place and hopefully we can announce something soon.

In addition, the Guardian have confirmed that Maguire is in line to make his United debut against Chelsea next Sunday. Readers are told:

Harry Maguire could also feature for United next weekend, with the Leicester defender’s £85m move edging closer.

What about Paul Pogba joining Real Madrid?

That deal seems dead in the water.

With the transfer window shutting on Thursday, Solskjaer has confirmed that Paul Pogba is expected to remain at Old Trafford.

Pogba, who sat out Saturday’s friendly against AC Milan, is set to feature against Chelsea, as OGS told reporters:

He should be OK. I hope so, anyway.

Leicester to sign Brighton’s Lewis Dunk

As reported in the Sunday Times, Leicester are set to move quickly to replace Maguire:

Brighton signed Adam Webster from Bristol City yesterday, paving the way for Lewis Dunk to join Leicester City.

Webster’s arrival comes as Dunk is being linked with a move to Leicester as a replacement for Manchester United-bound Harry Maguire.
