Man United decided not to sign Renato Sanches, Bayern closed deal in two days [Di Marzio]

Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio has tried to fill in the blanks on Tuesday in Renato Sanches’ move from Benfica to Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians announced the shock signing today, after months of reports claiming the 18-year-old midfielder was heading to Manchester United.

Bayern Munich have paid between 35 and 38 million euros for Sanches, while the player has agreed a contract at the Allianz Arena until 2021.

So what happened to United? Did Ed Woodward balls things up again?

According to Di Marzio, the Red Devils decided against pursuing the Sanches deal. Put another way, United pulled the plug themselves, and they were not turned down by either the player or Benfica.

Moreover, Bayern’s move was made it rapid time. The Germans managed to tie up the deal within forty-eight hours.

Talk about German efficiency!

Sanches will officially join the Bundesliga giants in the summer after the European Championships in France.
