Man United dealt David de Gea injury blow vs Southampton

Man United behind

Manchester United are currently locked in action with Southampton in a Premier League clash.

The Red Devils headed into the tie in fine form, having picked up three wins on the bounce across all competitions.

Two of these, meanwhile, came in the Premier League vs Everton and West Brom.

Southampton, though, have also excelled of late, remaining unbeaten since their second outing of the campaign.

And, at the moment, the Saints are indeed proving too much for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co.

First, some questionable defending from a set-piece allowed Jan Bednarek to fire the hosts into the lead 22 minutes in:

And United’s woes were compounded just 10 minuter later, when James Ward-Prowse bent a lovely free-kick past David de Gea to double Southampton’s lead:

Then, just when it looked as though things couldn’t get any worse for the Red Devils, they were dealt a blow on the personnel front.

David de Gea was the unlucky party, after picking up a knock whilst attempting to keep out the aforementioned Ward-Prowse free-kick.

The Spaniard initially managed to carry on after receiving treatment, but was later hauled off at half-time to be replaced by Dean Henderson:
