Man United & David de Gea: Confirmed contract offer
Writing in the Sunday Times, reporter Duncan Castles has this weekend confirmed that Manchester United have offered goalkeeper David de Gea a new deal.
Readers are told the following in the broadsheet:
Manchester United have made an improved contract offer to David de Gea in an attempt to secure the Spain international to a new long-term deal ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first full campaign as manager.
The Sunday Times confirm that Man United’s contract offer was made last week.
That’s after de Gea’s representatives met United executives in London.
Alexis Sanchez’s wages
Sadly for Man United, de Gea hasn’t signed the new Man United offer.
Why? Because the Spanish international, who is out of contract at the end of the 2019-20 season, is reportedly unhappy with the financial terms.
The Sunday Times note that de Gea wants to be paid the same money as Alexis Sanchez:
De Gea has asked for his status as Old Trafford’s most productive player to be rewarded with the same net salary as United handed Alexis Sanchez in January 2018.
To be clear, the Sunday Times fail to detail the terms of de Gea’s contract offer.
Put another way, fans remain in the dark regarding how much less Man United have offered their keeper, compared to their Chilean forward.
Chile’s Alexis Sanchez & Copa America
Alexis Sanchez scored the crucial penalty for Chile to fire them into the semi-finals of the Copa America.
Chile beat Colombia 5-4 on penalties after the sides drew 0-0.
Chile will now face Peru, while Brazil take on Argentina in the other semi-final.
