The candidates for the September Premier League Manager of the Month award have today been announced, with a pair of representatives from London and a pair from Manchester.
Unsurprisingly, the first two names on the list come in the form of Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, who’s respective sides sit joint top of the Premier League table.
Both clubs have won 6 of their 7 fixtures in the English top-flight so far this season, whilst just one goal separates the rivals in the goal difference column.
Both City and United have conceded just 2 league goals, though the Citizens have scored 22, compared to the Red Devils’ 21.
The final duo up for the September award are Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Under-fire Wenger managed to turn his side’s fortunes around last month following a dismal start to the campaign, securing two wins and a draw from three league outings.
Pochettino, meanwhile, led his side to 10 points from a possible 12 during September, leaving Spurs a point clear of London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea in 3rd place in the Premier League table.
The favourite to take home the award is Pep Guardiola, after the Citizens won all four of their fixtures in September, including an impressive victory over champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
