Former Liverpool player Steve McMahon has claimed Jose Mourinho only cares about getting a draw during the clash with Manchester City – and isn’t actually bothered about Manchester United as a team.
The former Chelsea boss apparently only cares about himself and the results that he can get – and how they look as a reflection on him.
“Mourinho – he drives me crazy it’s not about the team. It’s about him. Every result is about himself,” McMahon told Sky Sports’ The Debate.
“He won’t want to come here and City win the Championship.
“He will park the bus. There’s a duty for United to perform.
“Mourinho went to Anfield and parked the bus. He owes it to the Premier League and Manchester United to perform.
“He’s also in the entertainment business.”
For their part, City can win the title against United and it would certainly be huge for the club to do so, especially after the terrible game against Liverpool, and getting one over on their neighbours would be a massive boost for them going into the second leg.
Guardiola knows he will have to prepare heavily for the Liverpool clash on Tuesday – but getting the title won first and foremost is a huge task and one that could boost the players and see their morale sky high before the massive clash with Liverpool, not to mention annoy Jose Mourinho, something the City players and the fans – not to mention Pep Guardiola would love.
