Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this morning discussed the possibility of January addition Odion Ighalo being part of his travelling squad to take on Chelsea.
Chelsea vs Man United
The Red Devils are set to return to action following the winter break next Monday, with a trip to Stamford Bridge.
The matchup will come as a crucial one in the race for a top-4 spot in the Premier League.
As things stand, it is Frank Lampard’s Chelsea who occupy the final of the English top-flight’s Champions League berths.
Manchester United, meanwhile, currently sit in 8th, 6 points adrift of the Blues.
As such, a victory for Solskjaer’s men in a little under a week’s time would see their Champions League hopes greatly boosted.
A defeat, on the other hand, would see the Red Devils fall a likely-insurmountable 9 points off the top-4 pace.
‘Going to travel’
As such, speaking ahead of what could prove to be a season-defining outing for his side, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this morning provided a fitness update on his squad.
And, after seemingly confirming that neither Scott McTominay or Axel Tuanzebe will be involved, the focus quickly shifted to January addition Odion Ighalo.
Nigerian hitman Ighalo joined the Red Devils on deadline day two weeks ago, to provide such much-needed cover up top.
And Solskjaer went on to reveal that the former Watford man could yet make his debut in a United jersey versus Chelsea, with Ighalo set to be part of the club’s travelling squad:
‘Yeah, he is going to travel with us. We will just see his fitness work this week and I think we will get him sharp. We want to integrate him as quickly as we can because, of course, he is desperate to play for us.’
