Wolves vs Man United
Manchester United’s season got off to a flying start last Sunday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side hosted Frank Lampard’s Chelsea, and came away with a 4-0 win.
United now face a tough test this coming Monday, in the form of Wolves.
Wolves had an excellent record against the top six clubs last season, especially Man United.
Wolves would draw with and then beat United in their two league clashes last season, while also knocking the Red Devils out of the FA Cup.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were held to a 0-0 draw by Leicester in their first league outing of the new season.
Man United injury update
Ahead of Man United’s clash with Wolves, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer held his pre-match press conference on Friday morning.
One of the topics discussed by OGS was Fred.
Fred hasn’t had the easiest of times since his big-money move to Old Trafford back in 2018.
United are believed to have paid around £53m for Fred’s services, but, despite his hefty price-tag, Fred has been unable to hold down a regular starting spot under either Jose Mourinho or Solskjaer.
The Brazilian made just 17 PL appearances in his debut season, with the midfielder having completed 90 minutes on just seven of those occasions.
However, despite Solskjaer completely omitting Fred from United’s matchday squad vs Chelsea, the Man United boss has backed the 26-year-old to have a big season this time around:
“The good teams I’ve played in always had a strong base with a settled backline.
“We hope to provide that for our attackers and midfielders and Fred, of course, we believe that he’s going to have a big season.”
