Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has hit back at critics over his defensive tactics despite registering only one shot on target against Sevilla.

The Portugese boss has been criticised pretty heavily this season despite still sitting high up in the Premier League table

The Old Trafford side are currently sat in second place but it’s Mourinho’s tactics that have raised questions.

The defensive nature of his setup has really raised some questions and both Man United fans and ex-pros aren’t happy.

Now, Jose Mourinho has defended his tactics in a very Mourinho way.

“I think many of you are in a new sport, when in England some guys say the wingers shouldn’t defend,” said Mourinho.

“The next time I see David Beckham, I’m going to ask him, ‘When you played right-wing for United, when the left-back attacked, did you stay looking in the stands or track back?’

“Everybody knows I am not a big friend of Roy Keane or Paul Scholes, but I will ask them if they tracked back.

“All of the players look like they have to be free when they don’t have the ball, but when the team has the ball you attack, and when you don’t defend. It’s that simple. But it looks like some guys now are creating a new sport.

“The winning teams, the top teams in the world now, everybody works and has tactical discipline.”

Mourinho will have his chance to prove the doubters wrong when they face off with Chelsea this Sunday.
