An altogether noteworthy statistic surrounding the goalscoring exploits of Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan has come to the fore online this evening.

Pep Guardiola’s men are of course locked in Premier League action at present.

After securing back-to-back wins over Burnley and Club Brugge over the course of the last week, the Sky Blues made the trip to the Amex Stadium, for a showdown with high-flying Brighton.

City headed into proceedings aware that a 3rd-straight post-international break victory would guide them clear of Liverpool (at least temporarily) and into 2nd in the English top-flight table.

And, as things stand, this is precisely what Guardiola and co. are headed towards.

With less than 45 minutes on the clock on the south coast, the visitors lead by a hefty three goals to nil.

Ilkay Gundogan was first on target, before Phil Foden doubled the advantage just shy of the half-hour mark, followed by a Gabriel Jesus effort just minutes later.

And, as outlined above, one of the three goals netted by City at the Amex has since given rise to a head-turning statistic.

As revealed by William Hill, in opening the scoring for the visitors on Saturday, the aforementioned Gundogan joined former Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil in an exclusive Premier League club.

That is, as one of only two German players to have ever managed 30 or more goals in the competition:
