Man City want Grealish ‘as much as’ Harry Kane

Man City want Grealish ‘as much as’ Harry Kane

Pep wants Grealish & Kane equally

Manchester City and Pep Guardiola want to move for more than just Harry Kane this summer.

It is said that the desire to bring the Spurs striker to the Etihad next season matches that of interest in Aston  Villa’s Jack Grealish according to ESPN.

Sources have told ESPN that Villa’s £33m club record move for Norwich midfielder Emiliano Buendia has given City encouragement that a deal could be done for Grealish, who signed a five-year contract to stay at Villa Park in 2020.

The report goes on to state that it is the prospect of seeing Grealish and Foden together which has enticed Guardiola the most.

The Spanish coach has spent several years gradually bedding Foden into the senior City setup and he has become an integral part of the group. The possibility of Grealish and Foden playing together is seemingly too tantalising a prospect for Guardiola to ignore.

Sources have told ESPN that Guardiola also believes that Grealish could form a devastating partnership with Foden at the Etihad and give the team an attacking outlet capable of dominating the Premier League for the next five years.

Having lost the Champions League final to Chelsea, City will be even more encouraged to chase the trophy again this season and will invest heavily to do it.

Buendia not Grealish replacement

Despite the report by ESPN stating that Buendia’s arrival may have opened the door to a Grealish exit, it is said Buendia is looked upon to be a partner for Grealish rather than a replacement.

Dean Smith will hope to keep hold of his star man as they look to push towards a European qualification spot next season.

Ultimately though the decision will fall to Grealish himself. If he is ready to push for a move away from his boyhood club, risking the strong relationship he has with the fans, then it may be enough to seal a deal.
