Man City v Liverpool
The Premier League is back!
However, as seasoned football fans will know, it’s often incredibly hard to predict how Premier League sides will line up following an international break.
That could see an unfamiliar name make his Premier League season debut on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium as Man City host Liverpool.
Tosin Adarabioyo to start?
19-year-old Tosin Adarabioyo could start at centre half for Man City this weekend.
Over the summer there had been plenty of chat that Tosin Adarabioyo could be on his way out of the Sky Blues as the sides negotiated a new deal. In the end, however, Adarabioyo has signed a new deal until 2021.
Adarabioyo played just 121 minutes of first team football last season with Pep Guardiola claiming the youngster was not ready for more regular playing time.
However, that could be about to change against Liverpool as Man City have problems at the back.
Poor Vincent Kompany
There are now major doubts that Vincent Kompany will be available this Saturday for Man City’s vital Premier League clash with Liverpool.
Kompany has picked up a knock during the international break.
31-year-old Kompany played the full match against Gibraltar in a World Cup qualifier, however the Man City centre-half missed the 2-1 win over Greece earlier this week.
Kompany has missed the last two days of training at City. The Times now report the following:
Should Kompany not recover, Guardiola is likely to field Nicolás Otamendi and John Stones at centre back.
If he opts to revert to a three-man defence, Eliaquim Mangala or Tosin Adarabioyo, the 19-year-old, could play their first games under Guardiola.
As for Liverpool, there have their own selection problems to contend with as Philippe Coutinho may miss out once again.
