Giovanni van Bronckhorst is a Man City coach

Dutch daily De Telegraaf have reported on Monday that Giovanni van Bronckhorst is now working as a coach at Man City.

Now 44, van Bronckhorst has previously been the manager of Feyenoord.

However, van Bronckhorst stepped down from that role at Feyenoord at the end of last season.

De Telegraaf confirm that Giovanni van Bronckhorst was repeatedly spotted at the Etihad Stadium last week.

Now it’s also confirmed that the Dutchman is working for Man City.

Van Bronckhorst actually started working for Man City in the summer

De Telegraaf further state that van Bronckhorst actually started his new job in the summer.

That’s after he sat down for talks with Brian Marwood, who is the director of Global Football within the City Group.

Van Bronckhorst reportedly wanted to keep news about his new job quiet.

So what is van Bronckhorst doing at Man City?

The former Arsenal defender has been offered the opportunity to develop as a coach within the City Group.

While specific details of his role remain hazy, De Telegraaf report that the City Group want van Bronckhorst to travel to their flagship clubs and to spend time there in the coming months.

This means that the former Dutch international is set to travel to Australia (Melbourne City FC), Japan (Yokohama F Marinos) and the United States (New York City FC).

Moreover, City fans can expect to see a lot more of van Bronckhorst in Manchester.

Are City grooming van Bronckhorst to replace Pep Guardiola?

This issue wasn’t discussed in De Telegraaf’s report.

However, Pep Guardiola’s contract with the Sky Blues expires in 2021.
