Man City & Riyad Mahrez
It’s now been a few weeks since Riyad Mahrez returned to action for Leicester City.
Mahrez was closed to being the Foxes’s match winner last weekend in the 1-1 draw with Stoke at the King Power.
Since making his comeback in the Premier League match against Man City, Mahrez has virtually completed two straight games.
Man City, of course, tried to sign Mahrez in the final hours of the January window.
The deal never transpired, but the Manchester Evening News on Tuesday report “Riyad Mahrez remains of interest to City despite their refusal to go all out” in the last window.
Wes Morgan on Riyad Mahrez
Most expect Mahrez to finally leave Leicester this summer.
And should that happen, few Leicester fans would begrudge the Algerian his move as he’s been their standout player for three seasons.
Foxes captain Wes Morgan has spoken to the Leicester Mercury this week about Mahrez, and he’s revealed how the north African winger has returned to the team like a pro:
He’s a good player – he’s getting straight back into it and I was glad to see him out there.
I think he looked more like himself. Everyone knows what’s happened after the transfer window but he has come in and got straight back to work.
He’s always been focused. He’s been great – he’s settled back in as if he never went away so it’s fantastic for us and it’s fantastic for him.
Leicester are eighth in the Premier League, while they are also through to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup.
Claude Puel’s side return to action on Saturday with a home match against Bournemouth in the Premier League.
