Man City reportedly set to offer Raheem Sterling fresh contract

Raheem Sterling

An update regarding the future of England and Manchester City star Raheem Sterling has emerged over the last 24 hours.

Sterling’s City stint

Sterling made the move to Manchester in 2015, leaving Liverpool in a deal worth in excess of £50m.

The winger enjoyed a decent spell at Anfield, but, since his Etihad switch, Sterling has taken his game to new heights, especially under Pep Guardiola.

In total, Sterling has notched 256 appearances across all competitions for the Citizens, in which he has scored a staggering 105 goals, and provided 79 assists.

Sterling, now 25, has also proven integral to City’s most successful-ever stretch as a club.

The Englishman directly contributed to 33 goals as City broke the Premier League’s all-time points record, and has continued to improve as the years have passed.

Last season, meanwhile, saw him rack up an impressive 20 goals in 33 league outings.

Sterling set for new deal?

Sterling, though, is realistically only just entering his prime years.

As such, City are no doubt keen to keep their star attacker around for as long as possible.

The former Liverpool man has just under three years remaining on his current contract.

But, as per a report from the Mirror this weekend, City are keen to tie Sterling down to fresh terms.

It is added that, after securing the future of Pep Guardiola already this week, the ‘top priority’ for the Sky Blues is now to extend the deals of both Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne.
