Manchester City welcomed Leicester City to the Etihad on Sunday afternoon.

Due to the Sky Blues’ European commitments last season, Sunday’s clash came as just the club’s 2nd league outing of the campaign.

Whilst Pep Guardiola and co. may not be as match-fit as the Foxes, though, they nevertheless managed to get one over on Wolves in their season opener last weekend.

As for Leicester, they headed into Sunday’s tie hoping to make it three league wins from three.

Such hopes took a big hit less than five minutes into the matchup, however, when Riyad Mahrez fired the home side into the lead:

Ahead of Sunday’s matchup, meanwhile, an hour prior to kick-off, both outfits announced their matchday squads.

Leicester’s XI was largely as expected, with Wilfred Ndidi, who is injured, the only notable absentee for the Foxes:

Man City, on the other hand, had a couple of regulars omitted from not only their starting XI, but also the club’s matchday squad, including Gabriel Jesus and John Stones:

City, though, have since provided explanations for the absences of both, confirming that Jesus is injured, whilst Stones is not fully fit:
