Man City struggling at the back
Compared to their previous two seasons, Manchester City have been pretty poor so far this campaign.
City are currently 22 points adrift of league-leaders Liverpool, with their hopes of clinching a 3rd successive Premier League title looking dead in the water.
Man City’s biggest issue this term has been their defence.
The Sky Blues didn’t replace Vincent Kompany when he left in the summer, and they were then dealt a mammoth blow when Aymeric Laporte was injured vs Brighton at the beginning of the season.
This left City somewhat exposed at the back, with Pep Guardiola seemingly not trusting Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones.
The Spaniard has, instead, in numerous games this season, opted to start Fernandinho in a centre-back spot, despite one of Otamendi or Stones being on the bench.
The Citizens have also already conceded 29 goals in the PL this term, six more than they let in throughout the entirety of the previous campaign.

Man City linked with Nunez
With City’s defensive frailties so obvious this season, it wasn’t much of a surprise when The Times recently reported that Guardiola wants to sign two centre-backs in the summer.
The report from The Times mentioned a number of central defenders whom City have looked at, one of which was Benfica’s Ruben Dias.
The Manchester powerhouse have since been linked with another promising young centre-half.
The Daily Mail, citing Spanish outlet AS, has reported that the Premier League champions have enquired about Unai Nunez’s situation in recent months.
The 23-year-old Spaniard has spent his entire senior career plying his trade in La Liga with Athletic Bilbao.
The report from the Mail claims that Nunez has a release clause of £30m, which Bilbao want to increase, but they would need to negotiate a new contract with the defender.
Nunez is currently contracted to the Spanish outfit until 2023.
