Man City fans slam their side after shambolic performance v Liverpool

Not happy

Manchester City fans have slammed their side after a shambolic performance against Liverpool at Anfield in this evening’s Champions League tie.

The Cityzens were hoping to go to Anfield and get a positive result to take back to the Etihad for the second leg next Tuesday.

Things certainly didn’t get off to a great start when their bus was pelted by projectiles on the way into the ground but things only got worse from there.

That is because a horrendous first-half performance against Liverpool meant that Pep Guardiola’s side would have to do it the hard way in the second leg.

Mohamed Salah took centre stage for the first goal when he was able to finish during a goalmouth scramble.

While it was expected that City would then look to respond, they had the wind taken out of them yet again.

Former Arsenal man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain smashed home a 25-yard shot into the corner of the net to make it 2-0 and there was still plenty of time in the first-half.

Liverpool then made it 3-0 when Mohamed Salah turned provider for Sadio Mane to head home Liverpool’s third.

That was all she wrote for the first-half and City were left stunned as they looked to the second-half for hope.

Though, that was even too much to ask for as City did improve but not enough to even warrant a chance in front of goal.

Some positive news

The only positive news that Pep Guardiola’s side can take from the game is that Mohamed Salah got injured.

The Egyptian star tore City apart in the first half as Aymeric Laporte simply didn’t know what to do about him.

Though, the player could be set to miss the second leg after being withdrawn with a suspected groin injury.
