Virgil Van Dijk’s defending for Liverpool vs Tottenham
Liverpool are back down to second in the Premier League this Thursday.
That’s after Man City moved a point clear in the standings following a 2-0 win over Cardiff.
The start of the week was dominated by discussions about Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk.
On Sunday, Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-1 at Anfield in a pivotal match.
With the scores at 1-1, Van Dijk, without touching the ball, may have saved Liverpool’s title hopes.
The Dutch defender worked the space and the angles as Moussa Sissoko missed a great opportunity to win the match for Spurs.
Kyle Walker vs Cardiff City
Man City fans have reacted to the Van Dijk love-in.
In the final stages of Man City’s match against Cardiff, the Bluebirds sprung an attack.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Oumar Niasse were on a 2-v-1 against Kyle Walker.
Unlike in the Van Dijk versus Spurs case, the Cardiff forwards managed to screw up their goal opportunity all by themselves.
However from the screenshots spreading around social media, it’s easy to see why Man City fans are sharing the content.

What the pictures don’t show
For the record, Oumar Niasse left Kyle Walker on his backside during the Cardiff attack.
However Niasse’s poor touch allowed Ederson to race off his line to shut down the opportunity.
