Kevin De Bruyne shining for Man City
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past five or so years, you are probably aware of what an immense talent Kevin De Bruyne is.
The Belgian, who previously had a rather disappointing spell with Chelsea as a youngster, returned to England in 2015 – swapping Wolfsburg for Manchester City.
The 29-year-old has since gone on to cement himself as one of the Premier League’s all-time great midfielders, and perhaps even players.
All told, KDB has notched 216 appearances across all competitions for the Sky Blues, playing a pivotal role in all of Man City’s recent successes.
The midfielder’s ability to pick out an opponent with a perfectly timed and weighted pass is simply second to none.
And with five Premier League fixtures left this season, the City standout is just two assists away from matching Thierry Henry’s long-standing record.
De Bruyne set for new deal
As a result, all involved with the Manchester powerhouse will no doubt be desperate to maintain De Bruyne’s services for as long as possible.
However, De Bruyne’s future at the Etihad was cast into doubt a few months back, when it was claimed that the midfield maestro would consider his City future if the club’s two-year European ban is upheld.
City’s European fate, as reported on Friday, is set to be announced this coming Monday.
But luckily for the City faithful, regardless of the outcome, De Bruyne looks set to stay put.
As per a recent report from the Daily Mail, the Belgian is committed to remaining with the Citizens, even if their European ban is upheld.
The same report adds that City are expected to open negotiations with the midfielder over a new contract, with De Bruyne currently earning a guaranteed £280,000-per-week.
