Pep Guardiola set to smash Chelsea & Man United’s Premier League records

Stoke City 0 – Man City 2

As expected, Stoke City were beaten 2-0 at the Bet365 Stadium on Monday night by Man City.

The star of the match was Spanish midfielder David Silva, who scored both goals for City.

Raheem Sterling marked his return to the side setting up the opener after 10 minutes.

Gabriel Jesus was the creator for Silva’s second at the start of the second half.

Man City will win the Premier League

For a while now it’s not been a question of ‘if’, but ‘when’ will Man City be crowned champions.

That date looks certain to be April 7: that’s the Manchester derby away at Old Trafford.

If Man City beat Everton and Man United in the next two fixtures, Pep Guardiola’s side will win the league.

Chelsea & Man United records

Even if Man City do manage to sow up the title in gameweek 33, Guardiola will have plenty of incentives to keep pushing until the end of the season.

Several Premier League records, held by Chelsea and Man United, are up for grabs.

Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea hold the record number of points in a Premier League season: 95 in 2004-5.

Man City could smash that record by becoming the first team to break 100 points in a season. They are currently on 81.

Chelsea also hold the record number of wins in the Premier League season: 30. Man City are currently on 26.

The Premier League’s record winning margin is also up for grabs. Man United finished the 1999-2000 season 18 points in the clear, but United are 16 points behind Man City right now.

Perhaps the most interesting record Man City are going for is the record numbers of goals in a season. Chelsea scored 103 goals in 2009-10, City are on 85.
