Watford’s Jose Holebas to miss FA Cup final after red card vs West Ham

Watford 1-West Ham 4

Watford’s final league game of the campaign saw them host West Ham United.

The Hornets started the day in 10th-spot, but could only move up to 9th with a win.

Their opponents, West Ham, were in a similar position, as they could only move into 10th-place with a victory.

It would be West Ham who opened the scoring on Sunday in the 15th minute through Mark Noble.

Manuel Lanzini then put the Hammers 2-0 up just before the break.

After the restart, Gerard Deulofeu would give Watford some hope, making it 2-1 in the 46th minute.

However, a 71st minute strike from Marko Arnautovic and a Mark Noble penalty in the 78th minute made it 4-1.

Holebas to miss FA Cup final

As well as losing their final league game of the season, Watford also had Jose Holebas sent off in the 48th minute.

While West Ham’s season is over after Watford, Javi Gracia’s side still have a huge game to play, the FA Cup final vs Manchester City.

However, they will now have to face Man City without their main left-back.

After beating Brighton on Sunday, the Citizens are Premier League champions and will earn the domestic treble should they capture the FA Cup.

But if Watford do somehow beat Pep Guardiola’s men, then they will be playing Europa League football next year.
