FIFA Pro Men’s World 11 shortlist

FIFPro have, on Thursday the 5th of September, announced their 55-man shortlist for the Men’s World11 for 2019.

The 11 players who receive the most votes in their respective positions will earn a spot in the final World11 of 2019.

FIFPro and FIFA will announce the final 11 on September 23rd, during the Best Football Awards, which are taking place in Milan.

FIFPro have also announced that for the first time in 10 years, the Premier League has the most players on the 55-man World11 shortlist.

Liverpool & Man City’s nominated players

Seven of the Premier League nominees come from the current Champions League holders, Liverpool.

Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have all made their way onto the shortlist from Jurgen Klopp’s side.

As for Manchester City, they won their second successive Premier League title in the 2018/19 season.

City also became the first male English side to win the domestic treble.

As a result, the Citizens have eight players on the World11 shortlist.

Those players are Ederson, Joao Cancelo, Aymeric Laporte, Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling.
