Mainz’s Jean-Philippe Gbamin undergoing medical at Everton – Sky

Gbamin impresses for Mainz

Jean-Philippe Gbamin has been honing his craft at Mainz since 2016.

Mainz signed Gbamin from French outfit Lens for a fee believed to be around £4.5m.

Gbamin has since gone on to play 95 games across all competitions for Mainz, in which he has scored three and assisted four.

Gbamin is naturally a defensive midfielder, but he is very versatile and is also capable of playing at centre-back and right-back.

Gbamin to Everton

The 23-year-old now looks set for a move to the Premier League.

Sky Sports News have reported on Friday, August 2nd that Gbamin is undergoing his medical with Everton.

While Sky Sports do not put a price-tag on Everton’s move for Gbamin, Sky Germany has previously floated a €30m fee for him.

Gbamin will likely be a welcome sight for Everton after they lost central midfielder Idrissa Gueye to PSG earlier in the window.

As well as Gbamin, it has also been reported that the Toffees could be set to complete the signing of Juventus forward Moise Kean over the next 24 hours.
