Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois deletes Chelsea goodbye message after abuse

Kepa Arrizabalaga & Chelsea

It all happened for Chelsea late on Wednesday night.

Less than twenty four hours before the transfer window closed, Chelsea completed significant transfer business.

The headline news is that Chelsea have made Spanish goalie Kepa Arrizabalaga the most expensive keeper in world football.

23-year-old Kepa has moved from Bilbao to Chelsea in a £71.6m deal.

Real Madrid & Thibaut Courtois

At the same time, Thibaut Courtois has got his wish to move to Real Madrid.

The Courtois to Madrid deal has been tied up in tandem with Chelsea landing Mateo Kovacic on loan too.

Kovacic has agreed to join Chelsea on a season-long loan deal.

Courtois deletes his Chelsea goodbye

Sadly, Courtois is leaving Chelsea under a dark cloud.

It’s commonplace these days for footballers to make a public announcement on social media when they move clubs.

Courtois acted accordingly on Wednesday night. The Belgian posted a nice message on his social accounts saying goodbye and thanks to Chelsea and their fans.

Courtois claimed that “Chelsea FC will always have a special place in my heart.” He added:

Last but not least I want to thank the fans for their great support over the years. I hope you understand that being closer to my kids was considerable in my decision.

But a large group of Chelsea fans didn’t accept that explanation from Courtois.

As a result, the fans bombarded Courtois with nasty messages on his goodbye post.

Courtois has reacted by deleting that message.
