Ndombele compared to Pogba
Manchester City have recently been linked with a move for Lyon midfielder, Tanguy Ndombele.
At just 22 years of age Ndombele has played 80 games across all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit, in which he has scored three and assisted 13.
Ndombele has had a particularly impressive 2018/19 season, including in the Champions League were he caught the eye of Manchester City as Lyon beat and drew with the Premier League champions.

After an impressive few seasons at Lyon, Bruno Genesio, Lyon’s manager, has compared Ndombele to Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.
However, unlike Pogba, Ndombele does not have many goals in his game, something Genesio believes he needs to add:
“I do not like comparisons, but indeed, Ndombele can be a new Pogba.
“He is strong physically and above all technically.
“Tanguy with the first touch manages to jump even three players and when he starts dribbling he is difficult to stop. He can play in any position in the midfield.
“He started scoring, but in the future, I expect him to develop at the goal level. He must become a midfielder with 8-10 goals per season.” As quoted by the Daily Star.
Man City need a Fernandinho replacement
While Lyon’s manager wants Ndombele to add more goals to his game, Man City are likely not targeting him for his goal scoring ability.
Instead, City are likely eyeing the Frenchman as a replacement for Fernandinho.
The Brazilian is an incredibly important member of Man City’s starting line-up and is by far the best option to play in their holding midfielder role.
However, at 33 years of age, Fernandinho is unlikely to be able to play every game across four competitions for City.
The midfielder has already missed several league games for City this season, both of which they went on to lose.
As a result, City are likely going to bring in a replacement for him this summer with Ndombele seemingly on their shortlist.
