Luke Shaw discusses new Manchester United contract

Luke Shaw is going nowhere

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has signed a new long-term deal at Old Trafford and has been speaking about his decision to stay.

The Englishman hasn’t had the best of times over the past four years.

Injuries have blighted his Old Trafford career and issues with getting into the first-team meant that he could have left for free next summer.

Despite being linked with a move away, his performances early this season have convinced the club to offer him a new deal and Shaw has grasped it with both hands.

‘It’s been a whirlwind four years’

Now, he’s explained that while it’s been a ‘whirlwind four years’, he’s proud to sign a new deal.

“Since I came to United it’s been a whirlwind four years,” he explained, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“I am very proud to sign my new contract and continue my stay at this great club.

“I want to thank everybody that has stood by me and shown me huge support – the management, my team-mates and the fans.

“I want to let everyone know that I will give everything I have to repay them and deliver success over the years to come.

“I’m still very young with a lot more to learn and I can’t wait to continue my progress under Jose Mourinho.”

Jose Mourinho has also been speaking about Shaw’s deal.

“Luke fully deserves this contract,” he explained.

“He understood his development process, he has worked really hard at every level and he always believes in himself which is a great attribute to have.

“Luke is still young and is improving all the time and he must feel very proud of himself.

“I am delighted that we are keeping such a talented young English player with a bright future ahead of him.”

Manchester United will not hire sporting director with Mourinho in charge

There is plenty going on at Manchester United right now.

There have been suggestions that a sporting director could be brought in to ease up the burden on some staff.

Though, it may be longer than some expected before they hire one.
