PSG have all but won this year’s Ligue 1.
Unai Emery’s team are currently 17 points clear at the top of the table with just 7 games left to play.
However, the French title is simply not enough for PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
It was made absolutely clear at the beginning of the season that the Champions League title was the aim for the season at the Parc de Princess and PSG were unable to deliver on that goal this term.
Real Madrid knocked Emery’s team out of the competition in the last 16 a few weeks ago and the Frenchman’s tenure in charge of the club looks to be coming to an end.
One man who has experience in winning the Champions League is Luis Enrique.
The 47 year old who played for Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona won the league as a manager at the latter of those two clubs.
Enrique won the Champions League in 2014/15 with PSG winger Neymar playing a vital role in that success.
ParisUnited have revealed that PSG are looking at ‘two names in particular: Antonio Conte and Luis Enrique’.
ParisUnited go on to claim that Luis Enrique is Neymar’s preference for the next PSG manager whereas Thiago Silva would prefer former PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Would Enrique suit PSG?
Enrique had a brilliant career as a player winning 10 trophies with Barcelona and Real Madrid.
When he returned to the Camp Nou as a manager, Enrique was just as successful.
In just 3 seasons in charge of La Blaugrana, Enrique won the Champions League, 2 La Liga titles, The SuperCopa, The UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
If PSG want a manager who delivers trophies and gets the best out of his players, they should look no further than Luis Enrique.
Enrique established the formidable trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar and he would definitely jump at the chance to make MCN the next great trio.
That is if he decides to go to Paris instead of London where both Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in him…
