Lucas Perez in the Champions League vs Man City
The BBC’s David Ornstein has dropped a doozy of a transfer story for West Ham fans a day before the January window closes.
Ornstein reports that German top flight side Schalke are keen on signing Lucas Perez on loan.
Schalke have been drawn against Manchester City in the Champions League in the knockout phase.
The deal seems attractive for all parties.
While Perez can dream about scoring the winner against Man City, West Ham will reportedly receive a loan fee for the Spanish striker.
Schalke are also looking to secure an option to buy Perez at the end of the deal.

West Ham & Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud
Could West Ham replace Perez with Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud?
That suggestion has been floated by Talksport on Wednesday, who claim ‘exclusive’ knowledge of West Ham’s interest in the striker.

Giroud is out of contract at Chelsea in the summer. While the French World Cup winner’s standing at Stamford Bridge appears to have suffered a setback after Gonzalo Higuain’s arrival.
On Giroud, the Guardian report that the Chelsea forward was the subject of a 10 million pound bid this week.
Olivier Giroud turned down a €10m-a-year proposal from Dalian Yifang yesterday – the Chinese Super League club want to sign an attacker in order to let Yannick Carrasco go.
Carrasco is being linked with a possible switch to Arsenal.
