Lucas Leiva Tweets about his own transfer speculation
It is quite rare that a player Tweets a journalist regarding transfer speculation, but that is exactly what has happened today regarding Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva.
The Brazilian is in the last year of his contract at Liverpool and Lucas took it upon himself to Tweet Liverpool Echo journalist James Pearce.
James Pearce, usually a very reliable source for Liverpool transfer news, Tweeted: “Sakho could depart on loan with Lucas now set to stay at Anfield”.

To which the Brazilian replied: “Can you have more responsibility when you involve my name? You putting me against the fans for something I’ve nothing to do.”
Within the Liverpool Echo article Tweeted by Pearce, he reveals that Jurgen Klopp is “keen to retain Lucas’ services. Klopp blocked a potential transfer to Galatasaray for the Brazilian midfielder earlier this month after insisting he needed him to stay put. Unless Lucas pushes for a move prior to next week’s deadline then he will remain at Anfield for the final year of his existing contract.”
It is not immediately clear why Lucas Leiva reacted so badly to this transfer gossip update, after all, it looks like he is staying at Liverpool and this article would not paint him in such a bad light.
Lucas has not played yet for Liverpool this season.
