Lucas Digne hit by object thrown by Everton fans after Frenchman sets up Aston Villa opener
Everton and Aston Villa are currently locked in Premier League action at Goodison Park.
The Toffees headed into the game on an awful run of form which had seen them win just one of their last 13 Premier League matches.
This would ultimately lead to Rafa Benitez being sacked and then replaced temporarily by caretaker boss, Duncan Ferguson.
Ferguson’s first game in charge is vs Villa, who have been in decent form of late and have bought well in the transfer window.
The first 45 was a pretty even affair, but Villa broke the deadlock in first-half injury time when Emi Buendia flicked on a header that looped over Jordan Pickford into the Everton net.
The man who set up Buendia for his header would be Lucas Digne, who was sold to Villa from Everton earlier this month.
And, after returning to his former club and being a key reason why they are behind in the game, some mindless Everton fans decided to take matters into his own hand, throwing what looked to be a bottle at the Frenchman after he set up the goal.

Hopefully, Digne and the rest of the Villa players are not hurt by the stupid act, which will no doubt see the fans in question identified and banned from the stadium.
Digne back to his best?
On a more positive note, Lucas Digne looks to be enjoying an upturn in form since he moved to Villa.
The defender looked bright vs Manchester United last time out and was impressive once again in the first 45 on Saturday, bagging his first assist of the campaign.
Since the start of 2018/19 Lucas Digne has registered 19 #PremierLeague assists:

7 🅰️ – 19/20
