It looks like Leicester might have to settle for Alan Pardew to replace Claudio Ranieri….

Ranieri Sacked

Premier League managers are today reeling from the news that Claudio Ranieri has been sacked by Leicester City.

Given how highly regarded he is among his colleagues, and his title-winning achievement at Leicester, the news has been met with absolute shock within the Premier League.

Indeed, Jose Mourinho was so taken aback by the news that he paid homage to the Italian at his press conference today.

So, who to take over?

Roberto Mancini has emerged as the early favourite, followed by…Alan Pardew.

Mancini is currently out of a job and available for hire, having parted ways with Inter Milan last season.

The Italian did play for the club briefly towards the end of his career, and his stock remains high in England, having won the title with Manchester City.

Mancini not interested

But Mancini has no particular interest in taking over at Leicester, according to Sky, who cite sources in Italy claiming Mancini didn’t enjoy his brief time there as a player (should that matter?)

So, it looks like Leicester might have to settle for Alan Pardew: the man who was sacked by Newcastle and Crystal Palace is the bookies’ second favourite for the job.
