It looked like Granit Xhaka said goodbye to Gladbach before his move to Arsenal on Saturday

Granit Xhaka Gladbach Arsenal

By all accounts, Swiss international midfielder Granit Xhaka is leaving Borussia Monchengladbach to join Arsenal this summer.

On Saturday, in the final match of the Bundesliga season, Gladbach won 2-0 away at Darmstadt 98.

With the match already sown up in the final stages, Xhaka was subbed in the 83rd minute, and according to reports he received a standing ovation and hugs from his own team’s bench.

Xhaka also bagged an assist in the match.

Gladbach finished the season in fourth, earning them a spot in the Champions League.

After the match Xhaka also relayed some quotes hinting that his days in Germany are coming to an end.

Granit Xhaka: Arsenal bound?

Despite interest from Liverpool, Arsenal have reportedly already made an offer for Xhaka and according to reports the signing of the Swiss midfielder will start a summer spending spree.

Arsenal fans have urged the club to splash the cash having failed to keep up with surprise Premier League champions Leicester City.

A “Like” from Xhaka on Instagram

On Thursday evening, Granit Xhaka got tongues wagging on Instagram, as he liked a picture posted by Mohamed Elneny together with Mesut Ozil.

The two current Arsenal midfielders were at an Arsenal charity ball dinner.

Whilst Xhaka did not play with Mohamed Elneny at Basel, their former club, speculation is rife that their paths have crossed. Xhaka’s brother would have played with Elneny for the Swiss champions.
