Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has noted that he thinks while Mo Salah has been brilliant this season, he’s not the best in the world yet – and that of people think he is the best player out there, they should just say it.
He noted that there are some top class players around, and that Salah needs to do what he’s been doing this season but over a longer period of time if he wants people to say he’s the best player out there.
“Look, you always create stories,” Klopp said. “If you think he’s the best in the world, write it or say it.
“He is in outstanding good shape, world class shape, that’s 100 per cent. That’s good. To be the best in the world you need to do that over a longer period I think.
“There are a few others who are not too bad. He is a fantastic player. I’m really happy.”
After the performances Salah has been putting in this season, many people have questioned if he’s done enough to be considered for the Ballon d’Or – and that his name should be discussed in the same way Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s are – and given his stats and his performance, you can see why.
If he leads Liverpool to the Champions League final and manages to beat Real Madrid and of course Ronaldo, he could well find himself the Ballon d’Or favourite, which would be remarkable considering how he was rejected from Chelsea not too many seasons ago.
