Colombia 1 – Brazil 1
Colombia drew 1-1 with Brazil on Tuesday night in South America.
Brazil took the lead against Colombia, with a fantastic goal, scored by the Chelsea midfielder.
A long chipped ball forward was delicately cut back to Willian by Neymar.
The Chelsea attacker then took aim with a strike that fired into the top corner for a brilliant finish.
Eleven minutes after half-time, former Chelsea and Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao equalised for Colombia.
Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho
Philippe Coutinho still hasn’t featured for Liverpool this season.
Coutinho tried to leave Anfield in the summer to switch a move to Barcelona.
However, as we now know, Liverpool rebuffed three approaches from Barcelona for Coutinho, despite the Brazilian handing in a transfer request.
Jurgen Klopp repeatedly said in the first weeks of the season that Coutinho was sidelined with a back injury.
However, when he turned up for Brazilian national team duty, Coutinho was given a clean bill of health.
Coutinho v Colombia
But, just because Coutinho isn’t injured, that doesn’t mean he’s match ready.
Indeed, Brazil coach Tite said in the build up to the Colombia game that while Coutinho is physically able to play, he’s a little rusty tactically.
That seemed to be the case during his cameo performance against Colombia.
Coutinho replaced Renato Augusto with a little more than 15 minutes left on the clock.
During his time on the pitch, Coutinho lost the ball on the edge of the Brazil box after he was caught out cold.
Coutinho’s passing was also blowing hot and cold.
Will he feature in Liverpool’s away match at Man City in the Premier League this Saturday? That’s still in the balance.
