Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita has posted an update on his injury status on Instagram on Sunday morning.
Keita has confirmed that his participation at the 2019 African Cup of Nations is over.
The Reds star has asked for forgiveness from Guinea’s fans after being forced to withdraw from the competition.

Keita will miss Guinea’s knockout match against Algeria tonight.
Algeria have arguably been the standout team at the competition so far.
Not only have the north Africans won all three matches, but they’ve yet to concede a goal.
Liverpool’s Naby Keita injury update
On Saturday, Liverpool reported the following on Naby Keita’s injury:
Liverpool expect Naby Keita to be fit to begin his pre-season training programme later this month.
The midfielder sustained a minor adductor strain during Africa Cup of Nations duty with Guinea.
Keita is now back at Anfield for treatment.
In his first season in the Premier League, 24-year-old Keita was involved in 25 league games. He scored twice.
Liverpool’s pre-season & Premier League start
Liverpool’s first pre-season match of the summer will be against Tranmere on July 11th.
The Reds also have fixtures scheduled against Bradford, Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, Sporting CP, Napoli and Lyon.
Man City then face Liverpool in the Community Shield on August 4th.
Liverpool kick-off their Premier League campaign on August 9th at home against Norwich City.
