Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah provides injury update

Mohamed Salah has taken to Instagram to provide an update on his recovery with the player posting an image of him using a hyperbaric oxygen chamber at Melwood today.

The forward was forced off injured in Liverpool’s thrilling 3-0 win over Manchester City in Champions League coming as a huge concern to the club.

The Egyptian has been in unstoppable form this season scoring 38 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions and his potential absence will deal the Reds a huge blow.

It is understood that the player has damaged his groin – an injury which forced him to leave the field seven minutes after the start of the second-half.

The 25-year-old posted an image on his Instagram story of him using a hyperbaric oxygen chamber which is used to aid recovery and reduce swelling and fatigue.

Salah and the club are desperate for him to be involved in Saturday’s Meyerside derby, although with potential swelling it is unlikely he will feature.

Speaking after the game Jurgen Klopp told BT Sport:

“About Mo, I don’t know at the moment. He came to the sideline and said he feels something.

“That was enough for me to not even ask the doctor how he was, so we immediately took him off the pitch.

“After the game I asked him and he said, ‘I will be good, it will be fine’. But now we have to wait for the real diagnosis, not Mo’s self-diagnosis.”

Liverpool 3-0 Man City (Official highlights)

Liverpool ran riot at Anfield to place one foot in the semi-finals of the Champions League through three first-half goals from Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Saido Mane.

Poor defending from Kyle Walker gifted the Reds an early lead as his scrambled clearance allowed Salah to easily convert from just a few yards out.

Oxlade-Chamberlain then produced one of the goals of the competition as he rocketed his effort beyond Ederson to send the Kop End into utter delirium.

Mane swiftly made it three as he turned in Salah’s cross out-jumping City’s back-line to wrap up proceedings on the night and potentially Liverpool’s place in the next round.
