Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah names the four toughest goalkeepers he has faced

Mohamed Salah has recently named the four toughest goalkeepers he has faced across his storied career.

The Egyptian has played against some of the best and brightest number ones in the world but his toughest top four is unlikely to surprise too many.

When asked to name the toughest keeper he has faced, Salah was unable to do so, instead listing off Iker Casillas, Manuel Neuer, Gianluigi Buffon and Liverpool’s own Alisson:

"I can't decide on one so I'm going to give you four,” he said. “Casillas, Buffon, Alisson, Neuer. I'm sure there are plenty of other great goalkeepers but I am forgetting at the moment. It's hard to choose which one."

He added on Buffon specifically: "When I played against Buffon in Italy, he was unbelievable. The feeling when you are up against him, it's amazing. The career he had winning everything in football, it's unbelievable."

Salah vs Benfica

The next goalkeeper Mohamed Salah is expected to come up against is Benfica’s Odysseas Vlachodimos.

The two went head-to-head last week as Liverpool faced off with Benfica in a Champions League quarter-final tie.

However, though Liverpool won that leg 3-1, Salah did not get on the scoresheet and was taken off after just 61 minutes on the day.

And whilst Salah is expected to play some rule in the next meeting between the pair on Wednesday, it is hard to see Jurgen Klopp giving Salah the full 90 as Liverpool have an FA Cup semi-final meeting with Manchester City this weekend.
