Liverpool’s midfield woes mount following double injury blow vs Man United

The personnel problems facing Liverpool have continued to mount on Sunday, amid the club’s meeting with Manchester United.

Salah shines amid rout

Jurgen Klopp’s men are of course currently locked in action at Old Trafford.

Fresh off the back of another pair of impressive results post-international break, the Reds made the trip to Manchester, eyeing a 3rd win on the bounce at the expense of their fiercest rivals.

And, late in the action on Sunday, to say that Liverpool are well on their way to exactly that would be putting it lightly.

Amid one of the most memorable evenings in the recent history of English football, Klopp and co. currently lead United by a hefty five goals to nil.

Mohamed Salah, inevitably, has proven the star of the show, netting his latest hat-trick, whilst Diogo Jota and Naby Keita managed to find the net, too.

Midfield misery

As outlined above, however, amid an otherwise stellar evening’s work for Liverpool thus far, the Merseysiders have also been dealt a concerning blow.

This comes in the form of a pair of key performers picking up injury problems.

First, just prior to the half-hour mark, James Milner went to ground, before eventually being forced to limp from the field of play:

Then, with an hour on the clock, the woes of the Reds deepened, as a dangerous challenge on the part of Paul Pogba culminated in Naby Keita being stretchered from the field of play:

Jurgen Klopp will now be left to sweat over the wellbeing of his midfield pair, with all of Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara and Harvey Elliott already on the treatment table at Anfield.
